The Brewers Association of Australia is the peak body representing Australia’s leading beer makers and, more broadly, beer drinkers across Australia. It is a leading voice for sensible, responsible and workable policy solutions on alcohol use and promotion in Australia…
Our Role
Encompassing Australia’s premier and iconic beer brands, the Brewers Association of Australia is committed to the responsible promotion of beer as an enjoyable and refreshing lower-alcohol option to other alcohol categories.
Established in 1967 (as Australasian Associated Brewers), the Brewers Association of Australia has earned a reputation as a leader in the identification, development and achievement of positive policy outcomes to champion issues affecting brewers and beer drinkers.
We are dedicated to generating a more informed understanding and appreciation of beers’ modern role, contribution and value to the entire community.
Beer is a major contributor to the national economy, as well as the economies of all states and territories. But it also plays a pivotal role at the local community level – from the key Australian farm inputs of malting barley and hops, our brewers underpin major manufacturing, freight and transport sectors, a thriving retail market and support the pubs, clubs, hospitality and tourism operators in every town and city across the country.
Beer is an Australian success story, with proud traditions and a lasting legacy as a social lubricant, bringing generations of families, friends, colleagues and communities together. From humble beginnings in their own right, each of our members has stood the test of time over a century-and-a-half of brewing beers that Australians love.
The Brewers Association of Australia is a driving force for the promotion of responsible consumption of alcohol. The Association, at all times, advocates for targeted interventions that can successfully reduce harms for affected individuals and groups.
As such, the Brewers Association of Australia and its members are foundation partners with DrinkWise and the Alcohol Beverages Advertising Code.
